Louisa Virginia THURMOND was born on 27 Nov 1824 in , Albemarle County, VA, USA. She died on 29 May 1892 in Norman, Cleveland County, OK, USA. She was buried in Independence Cemetery, Norman, Cleveland County, OK, USA.

She was the daughter of Thomas THURMOND and Mary "Polly" Spencer JOHNSON, both of Albemarle County, Virginia. She was commonly known as Virginia.

Virginia married Abraham FIELDS, "Abel", son of John Fields and Mrs John Fields on 31 Oct 1846 in Santa Fe, Maury County, TN, USA. Abraham was born on 6 Mar 1818 in Santa Fe, Maury County, TN, USA. He died on 1 Mar 1872 in Osage Twp, Benton County, AR, USA.

After the death of Abraham Fields, Louisa applied to the probate court in Arkansas for her husband’s estate in personal property. The application was granted.

"Comes now on this day Virginia Fields widow and Reliek of Abel fields deceased and by the testimony of Henry G. Hartley, Jessee Goodman and Alexander Hewitt, three reliable Witnesses, stated that the estate of Abel Fields deceased at the time of his death owned an possessed certain personal property described as follows: to wit tow horses two cows and calves some thirty three hogs one waggon and household furniture valued at forty five dollars the whole amount of said estate does not exceed in value two hundred and twenty five dollars including all the personal property belonging to said estate. Praying the Court to make an order to vest said estate in her absolutely as said widow. And the court after hearing the testimony of the said Witnesses is of the opinion that the prayer of said petitioner should be granted. It is therefore ordered by the court that the estate of Abel Fields Deceased consisting in personal property and chooses in action (to) pass to and vest absolutely in Virginia Fields the widow and Reliek of Abel Fields deceased and that she hold the same as her absolute property." Thereafter, Virginia removed to Navarro County, Texas where she is enumerated in the 1880 census with her son Novel T. (Norvell Thurmond) Fields. Son, Novel remained in Texas. Between 1880 and 1892, Louisa Virginia Fields removed to Cleveland County, Oklahoma with her daughter "Mackie" (Macarina) Fields Hewitt and son-in-law, George Dawson Hewitt.
